"Leadership is not so much about technique and methods, as it is about opening the  heart.  Leadership is about inspiration of oneself and of others.   Great leadership is about  human experiences, not processes.  Leadership is not a formula or a program, it is a  human activity that comes from the heart and considers the hearts of others.   It is an attitude, not a routine".

I led teams of over 13 Fiber Optic Technicians and taught engineers the basics of Fiber Optic Technology, Installation, and Testing. I have an inherent skill as a teacher who uses innovative concepts to impart knowledge to students in such ways that the teaching is experiential.
The innovative concept I utilize, in that time and space, was leading through the principles of empowerment.  Innovative because everyone in the corporate world, at that time, was MANAGING by objectives, autocratic management, participative or democratic management and delegative management, there are others these were prevalent.  The company gave me a team of six technicians to start with.
I called them "Reluctant Warriors" because they were volunteered by their managers, not the cream of the crop, I could not fire them, discipline them or 'write them up' for poor productivity; however I was responsible for their yearly appraisals.
This is the short version of My story.
I gave them a plethora of information,  cajoled them to write processes they each agreed to follow, the tools needed to perform the testing, including "Beepers", contact information for all engineers related to the project, with instructions that they were to make all decisions required in the field to complete the individual projects, they can return to their home offices at any time they wanted to go, contact me only if there was an obstacle they could not remove, and last instruction, any time my telephone number appears in their Beeper between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., the are required to respond ASAP.  Mobile phones had not proliferated our society at that time.
As a result, me and my team tested and turned over for service all the initial fiber optic systems installed in the New York boroughs of, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, The Bronx, Staten Island, White Plains, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, and Mount Kisco New York.  Essentially, we installed the backbone of the Verizon Fiber Optic Network, the first underwater installation of a fiber optic cable between Brooklyn and Staten Island New York City, and the first fiber optic cable throw.
I believe in learning and make every attempt to stay on the cutting edge through study, electronic media courses, and systems of marketing.  I am an avid student and learn from every successful person that is blazing the trail.
I am fortunate to have spent personal time with as well as a student of, Jim Rohn, Brian Klemmer, Rich Schefren, Jeffrey Combs, and Jerry Clarke to name a few.  I am currently a student under the tutelage of Tim Kelley the founder of True Purpose Institute.
Barbadian by birth, I immigrated to USA as a permanent resident in 1970, and began what became my second career in the telecommunications industry.  I am creating my third career in this time and space.
I am a proud father of two young ladies Monica and Kristin, three grandsons and one grand daughter.
"Achievement is mine to create, to which I truly commit. Getting it done, gives me the special joy of creating an environment where everyone moves forward together."
I have professional experience as an Entrepreneur, electrical contractor, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, house painting, hardwood floor installation, home remodeling performing all trades, small appliance repair, Electrolux Sales, Amway/Quixtar Independent Business Owner (IBO).  Network Marketing and Empowerment through webucation; Leading teams of students using empowerment principles and techniques. Thirty-six years in Telecommunications.

I follow the mastermind principles of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, which benefits the team, and organization.  The Mastermind Principles are “…Infinite Intelligence, Accumulated Experience, Experiment, and Research….”  I prefer relationships with longevity, and willingness of the teams to contribute to the organization’s success.

In the video below center and focus your attention around these key words; Working  together, Relationships, Education, Educating people, Helping people, Change, Energy, Failure, Discipline  and Financial education.

Why are so many professionals
drawn to work at home?

It offers a low-risk venture with the potential of an exceptionally high return. And with network marketing you have no overhead, no accounts receivable, no payroll, and no geographical restrictions. Network marketing is a business that can be conducted from anyplace in the world.

Anyone can become a network distribution success, independent of gender, race, cultural heritage, education, or other social or economic background. The key determinant of success is the individual's personal connections and genuine commitment to hard work sustained over time.

As more professionally-educated and financially-successful attorneys, physicians, dentists, teachers, chiropractors, professors, corporate CEOs, and established entrepreneurs join our industry, we can expect more and more socially-conscious men and women to enter the network marketing industry. These folks will attract other men and women like themselves, people who will continue to raise the bar of professionalism in our industry.

The kind of experience and credibility they bring can only enhance network marketing, making the industry even more effective in creating a legitimate, efficient, and rapidly growing channel of distribution for moving an ever broadening array of products and services to customers around the globe.

The Power of the Start

Robin Sharma wrote this article.  It reminds me that, today is Yesterday’s tomorrow, Yesterday is gone forever, and tomorrow never comes.  Then I ask this question.  What am I doing about it?  The answers usually drives me into action directly to my “Why”.

Robin writes:
There is great power in the start.  One of the things I have learned is that you have to expect the unexpected.  So many of us have long-term plans but life happens and we don’t turn those plans into reality.

Yes, planning is important.  And remember that this day will never come again and what you do in the remaining hours of this day could move your life in a whole new direction.

For example, today is the day you could pick up the phone and forgive that person who, you know in your heart, needs to be forgiven.

Today is the day you could start getting into world-class health.

Today is the day you could pull out your journal and reflect on what’s not working for you in your life.

Today is the day you could articulate a new set of personal standards.

Today is the day you could decide to be a world-class learner.

I believe that your days are your life in miniature.  As you live your days, so you craft your life.  Ultimately, time management leads to life mastery.

How the Best Succeed.
Success comes from the consistent practice of simple fundamentals.  In other words, the best of the best are consistent.

All too often, we think success is complicated.  And yet the more I work with the greatest people in business and in life I realize that they are using very simple practices but that they execute around these principles religiously.

One of the most important of these fundamentals is that they are meticulous about protecting their time.

The first step in protecting your time is to know where you are going.  Knowing your destination increases your focus.

Knowing your destination allows you to make wiser choices.  Knowing your destination saves you precious time and energy.  If you don’t know where you are going, any road is going to get you there.  Let me give you a metaphor for that.

If you need to drive from Toronto to New York City, what do you do?  The first thing you are going to do is locate the destination.  Then you are going to plot your course.  You’d laugh at someone who said I’m going to drive to New York City and just hopped into their car without a map or a plan.  That would be recipe for disaster.

Most people spend more time planning their summer vacations than they do planning their lives.

You would laugh at a business that had no business plan.  You would laugh at a business that didn’t reflect on strategy.  You would laugh at a business that did not articulate its mission and its guiding values.  Yet most people don’t have a plan for their lives.

Most people have not articulated a philosophy for their lives.  Most people don’t have a mission.  And one of the most important things I’ve discovered is that if you don’t have a plan and a philosophy for your life you will end up living someone else’s life.

I had lunch the other day with one of the country’s top entrepreneurs and I asked him what his number one success driver was.

He looked at me and said, “We created a long term vision statement which we called our BHAG.”  A BHAG is a Big Hairy Audacious Goal which comes from Jim Collins’ excellent book “Built to last”.

The entrepreneur went on to say, “We based all of our actions on our BHAG and it kept us focused”.

My friend, whether he knew it or not, was applying the Law of Linkage.  The Law of Linkage states that if you want to live an extraordinary life then link everything that you do to your vision.

For example, if a meeting is not aligned with your vision then have the discipline to say no to it.  Because that meeting will take time away from pursuing your goals.  And the days slip into weeks, the weeks slip into months and the months slip into years and before you know it, your life will be over.

Stay focused as best you can, and don't let things happen to you - not when you can make things happen.”
